Vegetarian Baumstriezel

The original Baumstriezel made from yeast dough is sprinkled with sweet cinnamon-sugar. With this simple recipe, you will succeed Christmas market pastry from Hungary in your oven too. Ingredients (2 portions):

500g spelt flour

1 packet of dry yeast

200ml milk

1 pinch of salt

2 eggs

75g sugar or sugar substitute

Topping:

Xylitol

Cinnamon

butter

Preparation:

  1. First knead all the ingredients together, cover the dough and leave to rise in a warm place for about 40 minutes
  2. Next, roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut into strips about 1 cm thick
  3. Now wrap the rolling pin with aluminum foil, brush with butter and also wrap the dough around the rolling pin
  4. Now place the whole thing in the oven for 20 minutes at 200°C
  5. Finally, grease with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and enjoy!
